Customs allowances

When you bring goods into the UK you must:

- transport them yourself
- use them yourself or give them away as a gift

You can’t:

- combine allowances with other people to bring in more than your individual allowance
- get the alcohol and tobacco allowances if you’re under 17

Returning home from a non-EU country

The Canary Islands (Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, Tenerife) are not considered EU countries.

Your Duty Free allowance means you can bring in a certain amount of goods for your own use from outside the European Union(EU) without paying duty or tax.

Alcohol allowance
How much you can bring depends on the type of drink:

16 litres
Wine (not sparkling)
4 litres

You can also bring in either:

Spirits and other liquors over 22% alcohol
1 litre
Fortified wines (max. 22%)
2 litres

Tobacco allowance
You can bring in one from the following:

200 pc.
Or cigarillos
100 pc.
Or cigars50 pc.
Or loose tobacco250 gram

Landing into Mexico only: 200 pc. cigarettes, 50 pc. cigars or 200 gram loose tobacco.

Landing into Barbados only: All cigarette and tobacco items are subject to tax and will be charged duty.

Landing into Goa only: 100 cigarettes or 125g tobacco. Up to 2 litres of spirits or wine or beer. Please be aware that this limit is per person and exceeding this limit can result in lengthy delays and/or fines. We recommend that you place your cigarette/tobacco order for your UK bound flight.

You must be at least 17 years old to bring duty-free spirits and tobacco into the UK. You can bring in other goods worth up to a maximum of £390 per person without paying duties and fees.

Returning home from an EU country

The EU includes the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Rumania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the UK.

Weight & Volume; Volume Limitations

Where customs allowance exceeds 5 litres / 6kg of alcohol, the airline has the weight and volume limitation of 5 litres / 6 kg maximum. 

Please note:

To comply with customs legislation, your Airshoppen purchases will be given to you in a special sealed bag. You should not open this bag until you have reached your final destination. You should also retain your proof of purchase throughout your journey. If you open your purchases or fail to retain proof of purchase, your Airshoppen purchases may be confiscated by customs officials upon arrival.
